Educare Centre is structured in such a way that the child is extended physically, mentally, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
The school is registered with the Health Dept. Metropolitan Local Council, Dept. of Social Services and Population Development and the Rand Central Nursery School Association.
We are open throughout the year except between Christmas and New Year and on public holidays.
Our focus is:
Learning
We address all the important activities during the preparatory phase:
-Learn to socialise with other children.
-Learn to work in a group situation.
-Learn to follow and carry out instructions.
-Learn to be independant, i.e. dressing, toilet routine, etc.
-Learn to be creative by introducing them to painting and colouring, pasting and drawing.
-Develop vocabulary and language skills through story telling and discussions of subjects given situations or pictures.
-Learn motor skills by using safety scissors to cut as close to the line as possible.
-Learn shapes and colours as well as mathematical language.
-Gross motor skills development: balancing, hopping, walking on a straight line, kicking a ball, etc.
-Free play periods to play with educational toys.
Play
We are equipped with specially selected outdoor equipment on which the children develop and practice their gross motor skills.
The sandpit not only offers hours of fun, but also teaches volume, depth, touch and gives the children practice in sharing and other social skills.
Progress
Parents are updated of their child’s progress at the mid year parents evening and at the end of the year with written progress reports.
Safety
We realise that children are investigative in nature and on top of it have lots of energy. Experience has shown us that injuries sustained on the school grounds cannot be eliminated completely but the following measures have been taken to ensure as safe an environment as possible:
-1.8 metre high walling as well as electric fencing surrounds the property.
-Regular inspection of the playground equipment.
-Throwing of objects is prohibited.
-Playground duty by personnel.
-First aid attendance to minor injuries.
-Controlled access during school hours.
